Sands won the very first Vaux Trophy in 1964, when they caused an upset by beating the mighty Burneside on their home turf. They also won in 1969, but in 1971 lost to Leven Valley by 36 runs. Sands had overcome League champions Windermere in the 2nd Round after a replay, the first match having been tied. The Final was played at Shap Road, home of Kendal CC.
